Working With Me

Abi Parkins, MBACP (Accred.), MSc

I am a BACP Accredited Psychotherapist, and my private practice has been established since 2020.

I am currently undertaking professional development to achieve a diploma in Clinical Sexology. In my capacity as a Trainee Clinical sexologist, I welcome enquiries from individuals and couples presenting with sex and relationship issues including issues relating to sexual function, and clients seeking to explore their experience of gender & sexual identity.

My Individual session rate is £65 per 1 hour session, and 30 minute introductory Zoom sessions are free.

Contact me to enquire discounted rates for Intimate Partner (Couples) Therapy, and for Individual Therapy for those seeking to work on difficulties related to psychosexual issues such as pain on penetration, difficulties with erections and other problems with sexual function.

My Background & Experience

I offer a sex positive environment, accepting of the wide range of Gender, Sex and Relationship diversity focusing on exploring the wants, needs and concerns of everyone I work with to support them to an improved self-understanding.

My background is in Gestalt, Person Centred, and Pluralistic modalities. My work centres on the client's experience in the here and now. I encourage clients to be curious about what feels live for them and use this as a starting point to explore what needs attending to.

I approach my work as a collaborative process where the relationship between client and therapist is of utmost importance, and support clients to experience and understand their feelings in a non-judgemental, confidential environment.

In addition to my private practice, I have experience working in a variety of voluntary settings and with young people aged 18 + in a Higher Education setting.

I hold a professional diploma in Gestalt counselling and psychotherapy, and an MSc in Applied Psychology and am continually undertaking long and short forms of professional development.

Feel Safe In Our Work

It is important to me that everyone I work with understands my commitment to best practice. For me, that looks like modelling the ideals set out in the BACP's Ethical Framework.

My work as a Trainee Sex & Relationship Therapist is also underpinned by the framework of the College of Sex & Relationship Therapists (COSRT) where I am a student.

My Ways of Working

I am available for long term, short term, or single-session One At A Time (OAAT) therapy.

Whether you're an individual or a couple, you can book a free introductory Zoom (Up to 30 minutes) to discuss how we might work together.
