Working With Me

Abi Parkins, MBACP (Accred.), MSc

Please note that my books are currently closed to new clients. If you are an existing or past client and cannot find an appointment, please email me at info@abiparkins.com

I am a BACP Accredited Psychotherapist, and my private practice has been established since 2020. I am also a COSRT registered Sex and Relationship Therapist, specialised in working with LGBTQIA+ couples and individuals.

I will review the opening of my books to new business in November 2026. In the mean time I encourage prospective new clients to make use of the Pink Therapy Directory or the COSRT Directory

My Background & Experience

I offer a sex positive environment, accepting of the wide range of Gender, Sex and Relationship diversity focusing on exploring the wants, needs and concerns of everyone I work with to support them to an improved self-understanding.

My background is in Gestalt, Person Centred, and Pluralistic modalities. My work centres on the client's experience in the here and now. I encourage clients to be curious about what feels live for them and use this as a starting point to explore what needs attending to.

I approach my work as a collaborative process where the relationship between client and therapist is of utmost importance, and support clients to experience and understand their feelings in a non-judgemental, confidential environment.

In addition to my private practice, I have experience working in a variety of voluntary settings and with young people aged 18 + in a Higher Education setting.

I hold a professional diploma in Gestalt counselling and psychotherapy, and an MSc in Applied Psychology and am qualified as a Sex & Relationship Therapist through the Contemporary Institute of Clinical Sexology (CICS). I am continuously taking part in short and long forms of CPD to make sure I am offering the best experience to my clients.

A Space for Healing & Exploration

I emphasise the importance of curating our therapy space, encouraging clients to think about what they want the space they join sessions from to feel like - how you would like to make the most of your therapeutic hour.

I encourage clients to bring with them any sensory toys or comfort objects and to consider factors like privacy - making sure you are in a confidential space, and thinking about what you will do when the call ends to look after yourself and give yourself time to re-enter the rest of your day.

Pets are encouraged, but please arrange childcare as you would for an in person session

Feel Safe In Our Work

It is important to me that everyone I work with understands my commitment to best practice. For me, that looks like modelling the ideals set out in the BACP's Ethical Framework.

My work as a Trainee Sex & Relationship Therapist is also underpinned by the framework of the College of Sex & Relationship Therapists (COSRT) where I am a student.

My Ways of Working

I am available for long term, short term, or single-session One At A Time (OAAT) therapy.

Whether you're an individual or a couple, you can book a free introductory Zoom (Up to 30 minutes) to discuss how we might work together.
